Not Everyone Is Ready

Television Transitions To Digital on June 12, 2009

I'm sure that you have heard that local stations across the country are switching to a new digital (DTV) format. But the information needed to make the switch has not yet reached everyone in our community. Many of your neighbors, particularly older adults, are at risk of being left in the dark on June 12.

How You Can Help:

Check In on the older adults in your neighborhood to determine if they have done the steps to keep their televisions working

Send Extra Discount Coupons to Elders in Action. We are trying to collect and distribute coupons to those who need them the most. Coupons are transferable but they do expire.

Donate a Converter Box to Elders in Action for older adults in the community who can't afford to purchase a box even with a discount coupon

Donate a Digital Antenna because many old rabbit-ear antennas don't work for the new signal

Volunteer to Help Install Boxes with Elders in Action. Many older adults are finding that connecting the converter boxes can be confusing and intimidating. They just need some extra help

Encourage Older Adults To Call Elders in Action (503-235-5474) if they have any questions, concerns or need assistance. We are here to help.
